President – Anthony Hockley
Congratulations and welcome to all our new inductees for 2025. I hope you all enjoy the weekend
and your induction into the Australasian Martial Arts Hall of Fame – welcome to the AMAHOF
family!
Tonight, we will acknowledge another long serving member with a Legend Award. This is
community.
We will sadly also remember members who have passed since our event last year. They will be
remembered and always be a part of the history of AMAHOF. Their stories will be told by many
of us at this and future events, RIP.
This weekend I will officially complete my time serving as the President of AMAHOF. I would just
like to say thank you to everyone. It has been an honour and privilege to serve you and to lead
AMAHOF during my term.
While it has not always been easy, I remind myself that to achieve and grow, you need to get out
of your own comfort zone – I can tell you that I have definitely done that in the past few years!
I have done the best to keep AMAHOF moving forward toward a positive and productive future. I
have had the assistance and support of a wonderful board and together I feel we have achieved
a lot. I have made some great friendships and I thank them sincerely for all their hard work.
I wish all AMAHOF executives & management committee members moving forward my very best
and wish them all well in their positions.
Thank you’s go to:
- To my beautiful wife who supports me in everything I do. She has attended every event since
2013, and has helped at all AMAHOF events. She even attended the 25th anniversary of the
World Karate Union (WKUHOF) in the United States with me, showing her support. - All members who I have had the privilege to work alongside with in the AMAHOF
Executive committee, management committee and Sokeship Council over the past 12 years.
There are too many people to mention, but you all know who you are. I truly appreciate all your hard work and the sacrifice you make by giving up a lot of time from your own personal lives to serve AMAHOF.
In a world where people are so busy with life’s challenges and troubled times, we all need to remember that love, friendship and martial arts is good for our soul. Be humble, be kind, teach with kindness, always be a student, show gratitude and do what you can each day to improve your community and the world we all share.
Thank you to God for blessing me with the gift of martial arts in my life, and may God bless you
all and your families.
